Please note that school was canceled due to inclement weather (about 6 inches of snow!) and we are scheduled to make up these days. The first make up day will be February 19th and the second will be March 19th. Each of these was scheduled to be a teacher workday and was intentionally marked as a possible inclement weather make up day. The third day will also need to be made up, but I’m not sure when…
Please also note that the science test scheduled for Tuesday, Feb.2nd will be rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 8th. Although this is less than ideal, it needs to be done in order for us to press forward with the curriculum. Classes will be able to review on Thursday, Feb. 4th, go on a field trip Friday, Feb.5th, and then test on Monday, Feb. 8th. Please, please, please study now – a little each night – so that it doesn’t sneak up on you!
Science: You have been studying Chapter 16, sections 1 and 3. It would certainly be helpful to know both the vocabulary and the key concepts for each. I would also recommend that you try the review information at the end of the chapter. As for study questions, make sure you can answer the key concept questions, the section assessment questions AND calculate speed, distance, time, and acceleration. There are many questions in the chapter to help you practice – and I’m sure you can get a family member to help. Be careful – units are important.
Have fun in the snow, but please be careful! I know you don’t want to be back in school, but I want you back – AND IN ONE PIECE!!!
Teacher Workday on Monday, Jan. 25, 2010. We will begin the second semester on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010!
Language Arts:
Social Studies: Finish the classwork – read Chapter 14 and answer the questions.
Science:
1. Finish the graph (see Graphing Speed-distance vs. time WS link on the right).
2. Finish analyzing Josh and Teasha’s graph by cutting /pasting strips onto the appropriate areas of the graph. See side for link to Josh and Teasha’s graphs as well as the strips.
